On Tuesday the 4th of November, 10 members of Blue Knights TX21 met in Waxahachie at 4:00 in the morning to escort a group of World War II Veterans to Dallas Love Field Airport. They were enroute to Washington D.C. for a trip of a lifetime to see the WW II memorial, national cemetary, a banquet honoring them and much more. All this was possible and completely paid for by Honor Flight of Ellis County. It was an honor for us to escort them to Dallas.
At the last minute before the bus pulled out for Dallas, Ken was asked if he would like to come along as an escort all expenses paid. It seems that a couple of escorts could not make it at the last minute. With our President being retired, and nothing on his schedule for the next day, he took them up on their offer and took the flight with the WW II Vets.
On Wednesday night the group returned to Dallas Love Field and we were waiting for them when they arrived at 11:00 that night. We lined up with our flags in hand, shaking hands to some very appreciative returning vets. We then escorted them back to Waxahachie and assisted getting them off the bus and with their family members. Most everyone managed to leave around 1:00 - 1:30 in the morning!
Some of the first few pictures are a little blurry, my apologies, new camera and still forget some of the settings.
